Herzing University and the Minnesota Dental Association (MDA), recently announced a statewide collaboration to provide greater access to educational opportunities and training resources for MDA member employees seeking to further their dental careers.

Partnerships between educators and employer providers that deliver greater access to skilled dental care professionals can improve overall patient outcomes, especially across Minnesota’s more rural locations.

“Through our work with Herzing University, we can demonstrate the MDA’s ongoing commitment to partnering with key stakeholders to address the needs of our members while growing Minnesota’s dental workforce,” said Dr. Rose Perpich, President of the Minnesota Dental Association, in praising the program.

Key benefits for participants of this program include:

  • Tuition Reduction: Employees of MDA member dentists will receive a 10% tuition reduction for all programs at Herzing University, along with waived enrollment fees.
  • Dedicated Support: A dedicated advising team to provide personalized support to employees throughout their academic journey, ensuring a seamless admissions process and consistent assistance.
  • Flexible Learning Options: Multiple program start options allow employees to begin their studies at a time that suits them best.
  • Expanded Courses: Herzing University’s established Certificate Program in Dental Radiology will implement experiential learning through MDA member locations.
  • Engagement Opportunities: Students will have ongoing access to MDA members who can offer support, mentorship, and valuable insights into the dental profession.

“The partnership between Herzing University and the Minnesota Dental Association can deliver much-needed solutions to some of the top challenges we hear from employers and community leaders when it comes to the health of Minnesotans,” explained Dr. Jeff Hill, Regional President at Herzing University. “There are staffing shortages across the dental profession and employers want to provide valuable learning opportunities to current and future employees, without overloading them.  We also believe that everyone in Minnesota deserves access to high-quality oral care, no matter where they live. Herzing is incredibly excited to align with the MDA on this effort; it gets us one step closer to delivering on those demands.”

Among the degree training programs available to participants are Herzing’s Bachelor’s Degree program in dental hygiene, the Associate Degree program for dental assisting, and a Certificate Program in dental radiology. Through the collaborative efforts of the Minnesota Dental association and Herzing University Off-campus offerings of the certificate program will be accessible across the state beginning in the Fall of 2024.
