Dr. Richard Moen Receives 2016 Humanitarian Service Award
Dr. Richard Moen was selected as the recipient of the Minnesota Dental Association (MDA) 2016 Humanitarian Service Award. He was honored by nearly 9,000 dental professionals at the MDA’s annual convention, the Star of the North Meeting at the RiverCentre in St. Paul.
Dr. Moen graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1979. He practiced dentistry in Morris, Minnesota for 30 years. During that time he was actively involved in the West Central District Dental Society, holding many officer positions, including district president. He also served on the MDA’s Legislative Affairs Committee. Within his community of Morris, he was also an active member of his church, the school district, and the Chamber of Commerce, and he became president of the Morris Economic Development Group. After retiring and moving to Alexandria, MN, he continued to be involved in his new community. He is currently vice-chair of the board of directors for Knute Nelson, an aging services organization.
Working on behalf of the underserved population, Dr. Moen has participated in dental mission trips to Jamaica. He also currently serves as Board President for the Caring Hands Dental Clinic, a free clinic in Alexandria providing dental care and education for the underserved population in the area.
