“ERGONOMICS FOR THE DENTAL OFFICE: SAVE YOUR BODY”

This class will focus on the specific ergonomic considerations of the dental office, self-care and exercise strategies. We will break down each role including the dental provider, hygienist, assistant and office team members. The focus will not only be on optimizing posture but will dive into force and frequency as well, the top 3 factors implicated in workplace injury. You will leave this course with checklists and exercise routines to take back to the office the very next week.

“TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDERS: WHAT IF IT’S NOT THE TOOTH”

This class will review the different types and diagnoses of orofacial pain including temporomandibular disorders, headaches, neck pain and dizziness. You will review the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system of the TMJs, learn to utilize the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (the DC/TMD), and be able to generally categorize a patient presenting with orofacial pain. We will dive into assessment and initial treatment techniques that are easily implemented in the general dentist office and will conclude with identifying how and when to refer to other providers including Physical Therapy.
