MINNEAPOLIS, MN – At the Minnesota Dental Association’s Star of the North meeting last week, the Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation made a $150,000 donation to the Minnesota Dental Foundation (MDF) to help fund Minnesota’s Mission of Mercy (MnMOM) event. This is the third year that this significant monetary contribution has been made, making Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation the Signature Sponsor of the MnMOM event.
Minnesota will host its third Mission of Mercy event on July 25-26, 2014, at The Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato. MOM events, which have been held in 30 states, have a goal of providing free dental care to patients who face insurmountable barriers to care. A large, temporary dental clinic is erected to provide treatment over a two-day period in areas of the state where individuals are not able to easily access oral health care. It provides dental treatment to children and adults in need, regardless of their ability to pay.
“This is another exciting moment for the Mission of Mercy project and a wonderful collaborative effort between our Foundation and the Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation,” said Dr. Stephen Litton, MDF President. “We truly look forward to continuing this partnership, which resulted in over 3,700 patient visits for essential dental services at the last two events.”
“We are committed to improving the health of Minnesotans today while we solve our access to care problems for the future,” stated Rod Young, CEO, Delta Dental of Minnesota and Chair, Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation, “and we have seen that this is an important opportunity for many Minnesotans to receive immediate and urgent dental care.”
The Minnesota Dental Association is the voice of dentistry in Minnesota, representing practicing dentists. It is committed to the highest standards of oral health and access to care for all Minnesotans. You can learn more at www.mndental.org.
