Dr. Loren Taple Receives President’s Award
Dr. Loren Taple was chosen as the recipient of the Minnesota Dental Association’s (MDA) President’s Award. He was honored by nearly 9,000 dental professionals in attendance at the association’s recent annual convention, the Star of the North Meeting at St. Paul’s RiverCentre.
Dr. Taple graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1989, followed by a residency in Advanced General Dentistry. In 1991 he co-founded Eagan Dental Associates, where he continues to practice now under the name Northwood Dental. He is past president of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry Alumni Association and is current president of the Minnesota chapter of the International College of Dentists. He has served the St. Paul District Dental Society in many capacities, including on the Executive Council, on the Peer Review Committee, as its president in 2008-09 and as a delegate to the MDA’s House of Delegates multiple years.
In 2004 Dr. Taple was the recipient of the MDA’s Humanitarian Service Award for his involvement with charitable dentistry in Minnesota and abroad. He has served as faculty and program director with the University of Minnesota’s Jamaica Dental Mission, as a volunteer dentist with International Health Service-Honduras, and in 2002 was founder of the first Cuban educational exchange program between the University of Minnesota and the University of Havana Schools of Dentistry. He continues to be involved in charitable dentistry activities in Minnesota as well, including volunteering at the Minnesota Mission of Mercy and serving as its x-ray lead for the past four years.
